A native Texan, Robert R. White received his Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of New Mexico in 1993. His dissertation, "Artists of Territorial New Mexico, 1846-1912," documents territorial New Mexico-based artists and their contributions to the national arts community. An accomplished scholar, White published in many journals and magazines as well as having written several books on artists of New Mexico.
